The new generation of direct-to-consumer streaming services like Playstation Vue, Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video, and Hulu are very popular with consumers, but these services create a major issue for the big networks and their affiliates.

The issue lies in the revenue split of the streaming services’ monthly subscription fees between the big networks and their affiliates.  The networks believe that they should be negotiating with the streaming companies, but the affiliates are used to negotiating their own deals directly with the service provider.

All parties are required to play together in order for the process to be successful because neither side can do a streaming deal without the other.

This article covers what it will take for parties to work together, and discusses some major inflection points that are on the horizon.
